JS Bach’s Long Walk in the Snow A Chamber Musical narrated by CBC’s Tom Allen

This event takes place at the historic Akokiniskway Gallery in Rosebud. Please note that while the venue is accessible, washroom access is via stairs only and is not fully accessible

Johann Sebastian Bach is usually seen as the wise, old man of Western Music, but he didn’t begin his working life that way. At 18, and in his first job as an organist, still barely beginning life as a composer but already a spectacular performer, the young genius got into such trouble that the only thing he could do was to walk away. JS Bach’s Long Walk in the Snow takes you along on that trip: a 400 km odyssey to a glittering northern port city with street fights, big business, insight, fulfillment, the father figure he didn’t know he needed and, quite possibly, love. With glorious music - both familiar and gripping - featuring harpist Lori Gemmel, CBC’s Tom Allen as narrator, Maria Fuller on piano. Laura Veeze on violin, and soprano Dawn Bailey. JS Bach’s Long Walk in the Snow brings that troubled young man in from the cold.

Rosebud School of the Arts Presents: Improvaganza!

The Improvaganza is an Improv show in support of the students on their study trips! The first year students are heading West, to Vancouver and Victoria, and the Mentorship students head East to Toronto and Montreal. The event will be hosted by RSA’s Improv instructor Aaron Ranger, and you’ll see some pros, some faculty, and of course, the students!

Following the event attendees are invited to a delicious community meal at the Mercantile at 6:30pm. The meal will be hosted by the faculty of RTSA. Cost for attending the meal is by donation and goes to the study trip! If you plan to attend the meal and have any dietary needs, let box office know before Feb 17 by calling 1-800-267-7553.
