Songs For A New World by Jason Robert Brown: June 10 - August 28 Summer Opera House Musical A collection of songs and moments in the lives of a quartet of people who gather at a local coffee shop before going off to work. Two of them are meant to be together. They hope for a life together, but fear it might not work out. Then there’s the owner of the coffee shop, a man made for more than perfecting lattes and espressos. He has dreams, but they are tangled in a kite tail of fantasy. Also frequenting the coffee shop is a woman whose choices in life have only led her further from fulfillment. The songs they sing are the expression of their journey toward making life meaningful, expressing in metaphor, fairy tale, and adventure story because there is no other way to put into words the hope they reach for. This is their collective song.
